Abstract

Currently, children spend most of their time with academics at school and after-school programs as well as watching TV and time in front of a computer, which leads to a lack of physical activity and increases obesity risks. Fifteen papers regarding obese children¡¯s physical pattern showed that obese children had participated in exercise more often, but the preferences to some type of exercise and the sustainability of exercise were significantly lower than normal weight children (NWC). In addition, they spent more time on TV and computer than NWC did. As the association between daily physical activity / sedentary activities and children¡¯s obesity has been well established, school and parents must play a vital role in supporting and encouraging children to be active by offering tailored physical activities and a good role model.
