Abstract


Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify relocation stress and relocation needs among intensive care unit patients at an Armed Forces Hospital and to provide data for effective relocation nursing intervention.

Methods: The data were collected from 80 patients who transferred from intensive care unit to general ward. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, and one-way ANOVA.

Results: Relocation stress was high in order of physical, health care provider, and emotional factors. Relocation educational needs was high in order of living after discharge, care plan, diet and exercise treatment, medical treatment, and relocation. It was statistically significant according to length of stay in hospital.

Conclusion: This study contributes to understanding of Relocation stress of patients. Furthermore, based on the results of the study, Medical staffs will be able to develop effective Relocation teaching materials for patients.
